National Retail Jeweler Selects NCR for New Point-of-Sale Solution; More than 2,000 NCR RealPOS Terminals Installed in Sterling Jeweler Locations Nationwide

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 10, 2004--NCR Corporation (NYSE:NCR) today announced that Sterling Jewelers Inc., the U.S. operations of Signet Group plc (NYSE:SIG), the world's largest specialty retail jeweler, has installed NCR RealPOS(TM) point-of-sale (POS) terminals in all of its 1,141 U.S. locations. Sterling Jewelers Inc., which operates Kay Jewelers, Jared The Galleria Of Jewelry and a number of well-established regional names, recently completed installation of the new terminals that began in July 2004.

Sterling Jewelers Inc. is deploying the NCR RealPOS(TM) 80c, a compact, flexible POS workstation offering high-powered Intel processors, multimedia capabilities, wireless communications and high-speed LAN connectivity. NCR is also providing all in-store communication wiring services.
