NCR to Open ATM Manufacturing and Engineering Facility in Sao Paulo

SAO PAULO, Brazil--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 4, 2004--NCR Corporation (NYSE:NCR), the world's leading provider of self-service technology, today announced the opening of an automated teller machine (ATM) manufacturing and engineering facility in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The new facilities will be geared to meet the needs of the important Brazilian ATM market, the third largest in the world. The Sao Paulo manufacturing plant will be NCR's fifth ATM factory worldwide, with an annual capacity of up to 7,000 units. Today's announcement represents an initial investment of several million dollars.

NCR will initially employ between 75 and 100 staff at the facilities, but it is anticipated that this number will increase as the market continues to grow. The ATMs manufactured in Sao Paulo by NCR will be customized to meet Brazilian needs, using local NCR engineering capability. Brazilian component suppliers and manufacturers will provide ATM components consistent with NCR's local sourcing strategy.

Keith Taylor, senior vice president of NCR's Financial Solutions Division, said, "We have targeted Brazil as a growth market for our self-service solutions. Our commitment is reflected in our decision to bring our NCR technology to Sao Paulo to respond to Brazilian requirements. We believe concentrating our local manufacturing operations in Brazil will enable us to translate our customers' needs into real solutions more rapidly. NCR's existing ATM manufacturing plants are in Dundee, Scotland, Waterloo, Canada, Beijing, China, and Pondicherry, India.
