DAYTON, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 13, 2004--Teradata, a division of NCR Corporation (NYSE:NCR), announced the shipment of Teradata(R) Database V2R5.1, the cornerstone of its powerful data warehouse. The enhancements incorporated in this release include new capabilities which strengthen the foundation of the Teradata warehouse solution.

The new capabilities in the Teradata database provide customers the ability to store and retrieve large objects and a user defined function (UDF) library. UDFs are programming shortcuts that make it easier to create customized database functions in the Teradata database, saving businesses time and money.

Migration to the Teradata database from other databases is faster and simpler with the library of Oracle and IBM UDFs and the help of Teradata professional consulting services. With UDFs, businesses recreate the functions that may already be in use in their applications without the need for the manual development of new structured query language.

"Based on the growing demand to migrate more and more applications to the Teradata database, we continue to enhance the database to make it even easier for businesses to migrate to Teradata," said Vickie Farrell, vice president of Teradata Warehouse Marketing. "With the stronger, more robust Teradata data warehouse, companies are better prepared to solve the business problems of how to increase revenue, reduce expenses and identify new business growth opportunities."

Teradata partners with leading software vendors to offer compelling data warehousing solutions to customers. The following partners have tested and validated that their software is compatible with Teradata Database V2R5.1: Ab Initio, Atanasoft, Ambeo, Ascential, BEZ, Business Objects, ETI, Hummingbird, Hyperion / Brio, Informatica, KXEN, Microstrategy, SPSS and Ward Analytics.

"Hyperion's Business Performance Management solutions and the enhancements delivered with this new version of the Teradata database provide a powerful combination for implementing Business Performance Management across the enterprise," said John Kopcke, Hyperion chief technology officer. "Businesses can additionally leverage UDFs to ensure they are reusing existing investments effectively as they broaden the deployment of their performance solutions."

"Teradata continues to raise the bar in data warehousing," said Sanjay Poonen, senior vice president of worldwide marketing for Informatica. "The performance of this new release with its parallel-load utilities allows the Informatica PowerCenter solution to meet the high-end data integration needs of our most demanding customers."
