November 25, 2002 at 1:53 PM EST

DAYTON, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 25, 2002--Teradata, a division of NCR Corporation (NYSE:NCR), announced that for the fourth consecutive time it has increased its lead while continuing as the frontrunner over the nearest data warehousing competitor in the recent Gartner Application Server Evaluation Model (ASEM) update. Entitled "IBM's Regatta Still Lags NCR Teradata in Data Warehousing," the Gartner ASEM update recognizes Teradata's clear and improving overall market position in data warehousing.

The Gartner update explains that Teradata has increased its lead over the nearest competitor to 155 points, an increase from the previous Spring 2002 ASEM model in which Teradata led by 134 points. Teradata also ranked number one in the 1999, 2000 and 2001, in addition to the two ASEM models in 2002.

"The rigorous metrics that Gartner used in the ASEM evaluation match real-world data warehouse implementations. For this reason, executives at companies considering a data warehouse can use it as a resource to sort through vendor claims and make better, more informed buying decisions," said Vickie Farrell, vice president of Teradata warehouse marketing. "The findings of the ASEM report also offer clear evidence of Teradata's leadership and its superior ability to provide data warehouse solutions."
