The network offers self-paced, web-based training, live virtual classes over the internet, hosted educational chats, a reference library and message boards."With more than 6,000 student visits in the first few weeks, Teradata Education Network demonstrates the importance of making training available anytime, anywhere in a collaborative learning environment," said Adam Zaller, program manager, e-learning, Teradata Customer Education. Unlike most online training programs, Teradata Education Network allows students from around the globe to access self-paced classes, communicate with other students and make direct contact with instructors. Teradata Education Network offers in-depth training on many topics not available elsewhere. A range of Teradata and customer relationship management technology classes are available from entry to advanced levels. During its start-up in 2001, online virtual classes on more than 30 topics will be available including: data mining, standard query language (SQL), disaster recovery and system capacity planning.
According to Zaller, this method of training reduces travel expenses and offers more immediate access to education. For busy IT professionals, this training is available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Students learn at their desk, at home or anywhere that internet access is available. Because classes are immediately available, students no longer have to wait for a live class to be offered nearby or travel to a location where a class is offered.
