Veteran's Canteen Service (VCS), the retail and hospitality network serving the Department of Veteran's Affairs, is deploying a new point-of-sale (POS) solution from NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR) in 180 VA Hospitals across the United States and Puerto Rico.

The pilot was deployed in December 2010, and the rollout to all VCS locations is scheduled to begin in March 2011. The solution includes approximately 1,100 NCR RealPOS(TM) 70XRT POS terminals, the NCR GenPOS software, as well as project management, software development, testing, integration, deployment, on-site training and technical support. NCR also will partner with Smart Receipt, a target marketing firm, to deliver nutritional information on the back of NCR's patented two-sided thermal receipts.
