DAYTON, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 19, 2005--Sparkasse Hannover, one of the largest savings banks in Germany, has selected NCR Corporation's (NYSE:NCR) Personas M Series automated teller machines (ATMs). Over one-third of Sparkasse Hannover branches will be equipped with the new self-service units, which will be initially configured to recycle cash.

Sparkasse Hannover will install 37 new ATMs in its branch lobbies as through-the-wall units. The configuration for cash deposit and withdrawal with cash recycling helps drive down operating costs. The deposited, validated and sorted bank notes can be recycled through the ATM and dispensed back to customers requesting a cash withdrawal. Recycling solutions, popular in some European and Asian markets, require considerably less frequent refill of ATMs, thereby reducing the bank's cash replenishment and management costs.

"With these new ATMs, we will be able to equip our branch offices for the long term with the optimal solution for each branch location," commented Matthias Benk, a member of the Sparkasse Hannover board of directors. "If we convert some of our systems to the version with two dispensing slots, for example, we can satisfy customer demand for specific bank note denominations at the ATM. In the long run, that will have a positive effect on the service in our branch offices."

Michael Marheineke, NCR's Financial Solutions Division area vice president for Central Europe, said, "Banks require a high degree of flexibility for self-service solutions because branch offices may look very different five years from now. The modular design of the NCR Personas M series is an important factor that allows banks to avoid significant investments after the fact."
