DAYTON, Ohio & HANOVER, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 17, 2004--Teradata, a division of NCR Corporation (NYSE:NCR), announced the shipment of the Teradata Dual Active Solution, further enhancing the ability of its data warehouses to become a reliable foundation on which companies can run mission-critical business-intelligence applications.

With traditional backup or redundant systems, the second system sits idle until needed, which is expensive and inefficient. The new Teradata Dual Active Solution provides the ability to deploy a second geographically dispersed system as a part of the production environment, allowing users and applications access to both systems simultaneously. This provides performance continuity, while also maintaining availability during outages or disasters.

In the event of planned or unplanned downtime, the secondary system assumes all of the workload from the primary system associated with the identified mission-critical data and applications. Customers have the flexibility of determining which applications and how much data will be supported on the secondary system.
