Intel Pentium III(R) 1 GHz processor to power NCR workstations
NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR) today announced support for the Intel Pentium III(R) 1 gigahertz (GHz) processor on its high-performance point-of-sale (POS) workstations. With the Intel Pentium III 1GHz processor, NCR offers retailers a powerful and scalable platform to run the latest multimedia and electronic marketing applications."Integrating the power of 1 GHz into our POS enables NCR to provide our customers a fast, robust solution for implementing advanced operating systems and applications, while protecting their investment," said Bruce Donis, NCR general manager of POS systems. "Our relationship with Intel provides the availability of processors and stability for extended POS rollouts."
The first NCR workstations to feature the Intel processor will be available in the first quarter of 2002.
