Cloud providers to benefit from ability to scale their businesses quickly and minimize capital expenditure with hosted service from NCR

DULUTH, Ga., Jun 01, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) --

NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR) is today launching its new NCR Hosting Services, giving cloud providers access to IT infrastructure and service support in a highly flexible and cost-effective way. The new services are targeted at telecom carriers, Original Equipment Manufacturers and System Integrators throughout the U.S.

Customers can either opt for a facility-plus-assets service solution or lease rack space for their own equipment in NCR's high-security, temperature-controlled facility in Beltsville, Md. Hosting services can be rapidly provided with minimal service provider management effort as demand for cloud-based computing services grows.

Nadine Routhier, vice president of NCR Telecom and Technology, commented, "With our new hosting services NCR is able to help cloud service providers scale their businesses quickly while minimizing capital expenditure and risk. We are already trusted by some of the biggest brands in the U.S. to deliver a reliable, high-availability and high-security service."

Cloud-based services, which range from delivering Software as a Service (SaaS) to Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) on a pay-as-you-go basis, are likely to become a key element in many corporate IT strategies over the next five years. Gartner, an analyst firm, believes the cloud market could be worth almost $150 billion globally by 2014.1

NCR's state-of-the-art, high-security tier 4 hosting center offers redundant hardware, dual Tier one Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and automatic failover, backed by a comprehensive disaster recovery facility to deliver high system availability.

NCR places the highest focus on security by maintaining best practices and participating in the most stringent third-party audits in the industry. This includes Type II SAS 70 reviews, U.S. Federal Financial Institution Examination Council (FFIEC) governance and examinations, ISO/IEC 27001:2005 certification and hosting multiple PCI-certified solutions.
