(NYSE: WEN) has approved NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR) as a supplier of point-of-sale (POS) technology for the Wendy's(R) restaurant system franchisees.

More than 6,600 Wendy's restaurants are in operation in the United States and in 21 other countries and territories. The agreement with NCR gives franchise operators the opportunity to order and deploy the NCR RealPOS(TM) 70XRT, NCR's most powerful integrated touch POS workstation that combines business-optimized technologies, innovative retail design and industry-leading serviceability.

Ready for front-counter or drive-thru service, the NCR RealPOS 70XRT reduces energy costs up to 50 percent over previous-generation systems, thanks to energy efficient Intel processors and a high-efficiency power supply. The workstation includes a reliable and bright touchscreen interface with full-tilt capability to enhance cashier ease of use. An integrated biometric fingerprint reader is available for secure and fast cashier login, manager overrides and other POS applications.

The agreement with Wendy's/Arby's also includes a kitchen display system as well as NCR receipt printers, customer displays, cash drawers and other peripherals.
