Newest NCR Touchscreen POS Workstation Designed to Deliver Performance and Reliability at Value Price

November 7, 2000 at 2:04 PM EST

ATLANTA, Nov. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- NCR Corporation today unveiled the NCR 7460, a powerful touchscreen point-of-service (POS) workstation designed to provide an optimum combination of performance, reliability, and affordability.

"The restaurant industry, along with other retail businesses, asked us for a touchscreen workstation that meets their key POS needs at a lower price than our fully-featured systems," said Tracy Flynn, vice president of Product and Solution Marketing for NCR's Retail Solutions Division. "We've responded with the NCR 7460, which offers exceptional value in a terminal without sacrificing our high standards for performance and reliability."

Food service executives from around the world will be introduced to the NCR 7460 at FS/TEC, the world's premiere food service technology exposition, Nov. 6-8 in Long Beach, Calif. NCR will also demonstrate the other members of its Hospitality POS workstation family -- the NCR 7454 and NCR 7448 -- at the FS/TEC show.

The NCR 7460 features a space saving flat panel display with an easy to use touchscreen interface. Designed around the Intel(R) chipset, the NCR 7460 is certified with Microsoft(R) DOS, Windows(R) 95/98, Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Windows CE operating systems. The open architecture gives retailers the flexibility to choose from a wide array of industry specific applications and helps protect their hardware investment as new software becomes available in the future.

Many restaurants and retail stores require computer technology that must withstand harsh surroundings and punishing everyday use. The NCR 7460 was designed for durability and tested to perform at the temperature and humidity extremes typically found in these environments.

The NCR 7460 is available in either integrated or modular configurations. The low profile integrated terminal can be placed on a counter or mounted on a wall to save valuable workspace. The modular version allows the touchscreen to be detached from the base unit, providing additional placement flexibility.

The NCR 7460 will be available worldwide in January 2001 through NCR and its authorized resellers, with a list price starting at less than US$3,000. NCR offers global support services, including staging and installation, help desk support and on-site maintenance.
