NCR SelfServ ATM Family Certified for Operation with Leading Switch and Network Providers

November 13, 2008 at 1:01 PM EST

DAYTON, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 13, 2008--NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR) today announced the completion of certification testing for its new NCR SelfServ(TM) family of automated teller machines (ATMs) with strategic ATM networks First Data, Elan , Metavante, Visa, Jack Henry, Shazam, NETS, CSFI, ACI Worldwide, Inc., Postilion, Fifth Third Processing System (FTPS), Fiserv and Fidelity National Information Systems, formerly EFD (eFunds).

The certification process reflects an important industry requirement to thoroughly test the quality of all new software and hardware planned for integration into a financial self-service channel. The NCR SelfServ family runs NCR's industry-leading APTRA software, providing unsurpassed self-service functionality, power and flexibility. These networks have certified APTRA(TM) software on the NCR SelfServ family, which includes NCR's industry leading Intelligent Deposit functionality.

"We are extremely pleased to have certified these strategic ATM networks on NCR SelfServ," said Brian Pilla, director of Financial Marketing and Deployment for NCR. "With the completion of this group of networks and partners, NCR SelfServ is positioned to deliver and exceed current market needs. Because the new NCR SelfServ family was designed to maximize component features across the range, it speeds up and simplifies the testing process. The result is accelerating the speed to delivering innovative solutions to our customers."

The unique self-healing technology in NCR SelfServ allows the ATM to automatically and quickly recover from "soft" failures with no need for service intervention. In addition to increased consumer availability, several NCR SelfServ enhancements make servicing faster and simpler, especially for branch or cash-in-transit staff performing first-line tasks. For example, NCR's Self-Service Assistant, a robust graphic operator panel with video and other unique capabilities, is an important differentiating factor. It facilitates easier training of personnel who can then manage any basic issues that may arise. This is another important element of the overall efficiency built into this first-of-its-kind technology.

Following extensive customer and consumer testing, NCR formally introduced NCR SelfServ to the global marketplace earlier this year.
