Companies Offer Ubisense's Real-Time Location System with NCR's AIDC Software to Provide Heightened Asset Visibility for Manufacturing

ATLANTA & DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 15, 2007--NCR Corporation (NYSE:NCR) and Ubisense Ltd. today announced an agreement to jointly market an asset management and analysis solution for the manufacturing marketplace.

Under the agreement, the companies are offering Ubisense's precise real-time location system (RTLS) with NCR's TransitionWorks automatic identification and data collection (AIDC) software. The combination of these products enables manufacturers to manage assets throughout their entire facility, improving operational efficiency, allowing real-time audit and delivering cost savings.

The joint solution enables the management of assets such as production tooling and material-handling equipment throughout a facility, instantaneously recording events and transmitting actionable operational messages based on business rules configured by the customer.

The first deployment of the Ubisense-NCR solution provides real-time asset visibility on 15 production lines for a large automotive parts manufacturer. The solution tracks more than 2,500 individual high-value assets on each production line to a precision of 1 foot and generates the appropriate updates and alerts when machines or assets change locations within or outside a facility.

NCR TransitionWorks delivers the asset information and historical performance data to the manufacturer, allowing completion of audits and overall inventory tracking. The end-to-end solution provides a real-time view of the manufacturing floor for the first time and, significantly, enables compliance with relevant requirements of Sarbanes-Oxley accounting rules.

"Ubisense is the leader in precise RTLS, and together we are able to deploy a highly effective and robust asset management tool for businesses," said NCR AIDC Solutions Group Vice President and General Manager Donna A. Wright. "We look forward to working with Ubisense in the future to leverage this foundation for tracking equipment and machinery within warehouses, for management of tooling - such as molds and electronic reels - that can impact manufacturing capacity, and for applications in retail and other industries."

"The NCR TransitionWorks platform and NCR's market presence are a powerful combination in global manufacturing and retail," said Ubisense Chief Executive Officer Richard Green. "Our goal is to team with companies that demonstrate a deep knowledge of specific markets, and we are pleased to be able to work with NCR in delivering real solutions to customers."

NCR TransitionWorks is designed to readily assimilate and manage information from various AIDC devices, including RFID-based technologies. The solution resolves costly time challenges and ensures ease of integration with new or existing data-capture devices, allowing users to quickly collect, interpret and move large amounts of data from multiple sources.
